Current Events

I realize that many of you are out participating in numerous spring rituals which include farming, cutting grass, landscaping, and watching school sporting events. Still, since I received what I thought was good news the other day from some members of our community, I thought I would bother some of you for some verification of a recent 'current event'.

The newspaper reported last week that an elderly woman had left a million dollars to the Wyandot County Fair ! What great news! The fairboard is now brainstorming how best to use that money.

Then a couple days later someone told me that this same generous soul left farmland to(the former) St. Peter's church. The amount of acres was said to vary from 50 to 300 acres. Can you imagine all the good that can be done with that money??? The roof at St. Joesph's, the windows at St. Peter's and similar renovations at St. Mary's structure can be now completed without worry!! I'm sure the school could benefit from such a large donation, as well as progams for CCD, and our high school youth. The possibilities are endless? Our finance council must be thrilled!!

I would like to hear what you know about this wonderful windfall. I am hoping that this current event is very factual, if not, please let us know? We really do not want to repeat rumors, just the facts Madam!! Thanks!!

**4/26 **Okay, someone, who read the will, told me that the net proceeds from close to 50 acres was given to the former St. Peter's church. The rest of the estate goes into an endowment fund for scholarships for Upper Sandusky High School. The will was made out in 2002. Any other information would be appreciated.

Passionate Play

I wanted to commend all those who were involved in the Passion Play on the evening of Good Friday. I have enjoyed the production for years, but I especially enjoyed this year's presentation. Some of last year's cast were unable to participate this year, and the play was canceled just a month before Good Friday. But due to the perseverance of several members of the parish, new members joined the cast and crew and the production came back to life. I'm sure that those few weeks of preparation were hectic, but well worth it to those of us who came to the chapel that night. I was humming the finale "We are the reason" for weeks afterward.

Thanks again for the spiritual boost!

Pulling Out the Chair

Pulling out the chair
Beneath your mind
And watching you fall upon God-
There is nothing else for Hafiz to do
That is any fun in this world!

-Shams-ud-din Mohammed Hafiz
Muslim mystic (1320-89)

No, I am not going to relive another elementary school story (although I think I did get in trouble for pulling out a chair from underneath a classmate in second grade!) I began to read one of Father Richard Rohr's Books, "Everything Belongs" and the forward contained the thought by Hafiz.

Some have labeled this blog as a haven for "gossip". I prefer to think of our conversations here as a forum for 'pulling out the chair' on the minds of those in the parish. Don't you think that prayerful, good natured communication of this sort actually strengthens our community more so than canned script we get from the institution???

Falling upon God, after having the chair pulled out from under you, should be welcomed?
