Ah yes, now I remember!
PSALM 16: 7-11
I bless the Lord who councils me;
Even at night my heart exhorts me.
I keep the Lord always before me;
with the Lord at my right, I shall never be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad, my soul rejoices;
my body also dwells secure,
For you will not abandon me to Sheol,
nor let your faithful servant see the pit.
You will show me the path to life.
Abounding joy in your presence,
The delights at your right hand
FOREVER!
I memorized that verse a long time ago. A couple of days ago, I started reciting it during my walk. I grinned and remembered a time when I spent my drive to work with little 3x5 cards with verses on them. I would take the cards with me on my walks, read them during my breaks at work, and be amazed at how they would eventually 'stick' in my mind and in my heart. When I sat down this evening to write this verse, I tried it from memory. Ironically, the only line I left out was "I keep the Lord always before me." I smiled as I understood that I haven't always kept the Lord 'always before me'. When I do keep the Lord in the forefront, I smile, laugh, and listen more, and worry a heck of a lot less if I'm "doing things right".
So tonight, I am putting the Lord where he should be....always before me. The institution, and all its power and glory, can take a backseat for now. Time is awastin'. There are so many who worry to much about 'who' is going to lead rather than serving those who need to be led.
