Food For Thought

Two monks were returning to their monastery when they discovered that the bridge over the nearby river had washed out. At the river's edge was a beautiful woman unable to cross because of the strong current. Because their vows forbade them from touching or even looking at a woman, the younger monk ignored her pleas for help. The elder monk, however, picked her up and carried her across the river on his back. Indignant, the young monk waited until they were alone again, and then asked: "How could you do such a thing?" "Brother," the elder monk said, "I put her down hours ago, but it seems that you have been carrying her all day."

What a great story. I wonder how often we pass by and miss an opportunity to make a difference in someones life. Some times we get caught up in all that life throws at us. We sometimes allow things to build up and overwhelm us. We lose focus on what is really important. Sometimes we don't take time to see the beauty that God gives to us. The sunrise, the crisp cool air in the morning, or the warm sun on a cold winter day. Many times we are asked to help carry someone, and some times we need to be carried, in both cases it is a gift from God, to allow us to make a difference in someones life. Tonight my daughter brought some maple leaves home from school that were red ,green and yellow. She gave them to my wife as if they were a bunch of flowers. What most of us look as as a nuisance she saw Gods handy work. Take time today to see the gifts that God wants you to recieve. Then pass them on to someone else!!!

There is a Christian song with the following thought:

"One ray of light always breaks through, follow wherever it takes you."

Amen.
