Checks and Balances
In a recent Christian newpaper, an article caught my attention in reference to the upcoming elections.
It was entitled: Last Words.
'If the founders believed that leaders would be inherently good, they wouldn't have set up such an elaborate system of checks and balances.'
--Steven Aftergood
Do you suppose that substituting 'Jesus' for founders and 'He' for they, it would be an appropriate comment for some of our religious leaders?

A good message for our leaders of the church. Jesus understands our struggles with being human. He gave us His Word and each other in an elaborate checks and balance system that needs constant attention and care. This system of checks and balances is not meant to be negative and does not celebrate exposing human inadequacies. But it does demand that church leaders listen to the people and respect their life experiences.
I just wanted to say that the staff should listen to the people on the councils. They should let them know what is really going on. If the people on those councils are just chosen, and not listened to, then what good are they to the parish? The staff might just as well get names off of the headstones in the parish cemetery, and put them on the councils.
